The very first thing you'll probably notice in Cal's domain, if BD-1 doesn't catch you first, is the S-161 "Stinger" XL luxury yacht parked outside, otherwise known as the Stinger Mantis. The starship has three separate sections of its outside exterior, with the front and back segmented by a rotating section that houses the main outrigger engine and large vertical fin, almost as tall as the Mantis is long. There are two laser cannons above the main cockpit.

The second thing is BD-1, Cal's extremely babyboy-coded droid companion. BD-1 will run as fast as his little mechanical legs can carry him to greet any and all visitors, beeping excitedly in Binary, the droid language. Beedee is friendly, curious, and quick to warm to anyone who treats him kindly, in which case he will absolutely submit to pets. When Cal isn't there, he'll follow visitors around like a puppy by default, providing cheerful commentary in Binary despite the fact that Cal is seemingly one of the very few people who can understand it.

Also, Beedee is a very good boy.

▶THE STINGER MANTIS


A boarding ramp leads up into the interior of the Mantis. Inside, there are six separate parts of the interior, including the cockpit, holotable room, common area, galley, main corridor, and engine room.




At the bow of the ship is the cockpit. Inside the cockpit, the floor is partly built with glass that, along with raised pilot and co-pilot seats, creates a large area of view for the pilot. There is a third seat to the port side that serves as the comm station and a jump seat to the starboard side that folds up when not in use. Please don't touch anything in here unless you're prepared to find out what it does the hard way.




Behind the cockpit is the holotable room. The table is positioned in the center, surrounded by a semi-circular sofa upholstered with orange Potolli-weave fabric. The holotable does work, and can project a holoimage, some more detailed than others, of one of the many dozens of planets that Cal has visited in a galaxy far, far away, as well as some archived holomessages and holovideos that may or may not be personal to him, so proceed with caution. Behind this room are the two boarding ramps found on either side of the ship, depending on its orientation upon landing. Only the ramp on the starboard side is open and extended.





On the other side of the ramps, located in the common area, is a large seating area. Surrounding the seating arrangements are various decorative terrariums, built behind walls of Umbaran glass and containing a few different exotic plants. Beside the sofa is a set of stairs that leads to a raised galley. Situated in the galley is a table, four swiveling chairs, and various shelves of food storage. Through the doorway behind the galley is the main corridor, with three separate doors that all lead to the other various rooms inside the ship. These doors are currently locked.





At the end of the corridor, at the very aft of the ship, is the engine room, which has two levels that are connected by a ladder on the port side. The upper level contains diagnostic controls and a small cot, as well as a workbench at the back of the room. The ship's hyperdrive is located behind the workbench, the latter of which is littered with a collection of tools and half-finished projects that Cal tinkers on in his spare time. Accessed via the ladder, the lower level contains two escape pods and access to the ship's sublight engine and other components.

— FIRST IMPRESSIONS —
APPEARANCE 6'0 tall, lean and twunky. Red hair, green eyes. Lots of freckles. Tattoo on the inside of his right forearm. Visible scars on his face: diagonal cuts across his right eyebrow, lower lip, the bridge of his nose, and a long, straight burn across his jaw. Plenty more scars under his clothes, but that's between him and the Cosmic Force. :) Perpetual 5 o'clock (or 6 or 7 o'clock) shadow and air of exhaustion.
CLOTHING Grungy scifi utilitarian. In the Free Cities, this translates to functional, non-descript steampunk, usually in some form of basic rolled-sleeve shirt, vest, and pants tucked into boots. Some buckles and greebles, but no frills. Main color palette of blues, browns, oranges, and other earthy tones, but not afraid of pink. Loves ponchos?? Do not give him access to ponchos.
DEMEANOR Easygoing and friendly, but reserved. Earnest and kind. Guarded, but hides it well. Good at making casual conversation without actually saying anything about himself. Tries to avoid attention at all costs, but Circumstances usually prevent that. Sassy and loves a good quip. Carries himself like a fighter, but a reluctant one. A little jumpy. Habitually restless and cannot sit still to save his life, except when meditating.
AURAL Sounds like this! Boyish and a little raspy. Outer Rim (i.e. American) accent. Tends to not say much and let others do the talking.
OLFACTORY Earth, rain, and leather. Petrichor. When working, smells like metal, oil, and grease.

As a Jedi, Cal can use the Force, the energy that connects all living things in a galaxy far, far away. Typically, Force users have access to a variety of abilities, like superhuman reflexes and athleticism, sensing incoming danger or the "will" of the Force, some light empathy and telepathy, etc. Some of Cal's notable abilities include:
TELEKINESIS Moving objects and people with the Force.
FORCE STASIS The ability to "slow down" objects and people with the Force for a short period of time.
MIND TOUCH The infamous Jedi Mind Trick. Using the Force to influence the thoughts and/or actions of other sentient beings, including confusing them into attacking their allies.
FORCE SENSE Feeling the pull or will of the Force, sensing the Force/life energy in other people, prophetic visions or dreams, getting the ol' "I have a bad feeling about this," and other mystical nonsense that's convenient for the plot.
FORCE DASH Briefly increasing movement speed.
ENHANCED REFLEXES AND ATHLETICISM Running across walls, jumping way farther than a normal human, falling from great heights and not dying, sick parkour, dodging blaster shots, deflecting blaster bolts with a lightsaber, etc.
PSYCHOMETRY An extremely rare Force ability that is innate, not learned; users are able to "see" memories, even memories that are centuries old, from objects by touching them. Cal has a good amount of control over his psychometry, but particularly strong or traumatic experiences can overwhelm him.

PHYSICAL AFFECTION Yes! Generally, he doesn't mind casual platonic touches (handshakes, backslaps, etc) from friends/acquaintances, but might get jumpy around touches from strangers or anything romantic. Someone please give him a hug, though, because he's just a touch-starved little guy.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE Yep. Though he tries to de-escalate first, he'll fight back if attacked.
MIND READING Yes, but he has some mental defenses because of his Jedi training.
ROMANCE Good fucking luck!! He's silly in love with his goth girlfriend and would politely reject all advances, but that's if he even realizes they're advances. (He's an idiot.) I'm always down for unrequited crushes and flirting, though, because it's hilarious how oblivious he is.

Force powers:

    Strengths:

  • Compassion: like most Jedi, Cal is compassionate and empathetic almost to a fault. He can't help but step in when people are in need, even when doing so puts him in danger as well.
  • Persistence: once he's set on a path, he doesn't give up. The upside is that he can overcome almost any obstacle by sheer stubborn will, but the downside is that he doesn't know when to call it quits, even when the cause is hopeless.
  • Bravery: he's courageous almost to the point of recklessness or, frankly, stupidity, especially if it's for a good cause.


  • Weaknesses:

  • Guilt: he's quick to blame himself when things go wrong, even when they're not his fault, and still carries the guilt and trauma of Order 66 and his crew's and Masters' deaths with him.
  • Anger: he struggles with his anger and bitterness towards the Empire and his losing fight against them. [redacted]'s betrayal pushes him towards blind rage, vengeance, and violence, to the point where he taps into the forbidden D A R K S I D E.
  • Stupid: he's kind of a himbo. He's overly trusting and a little naive out of idealism — he just wants to see the best in people. Cannot pick up when people are hitting on him if his life depended on it. Pretty impulsive — the type to act first, think later.
